Boredom Busting Circuit Workout and an Early Weekend

Today Ryan and I had our "weekend." Ryan went into work tonight at 7pm, and he doesn't have the weekend off, so this was sort of our "weekend" time to spend together. I knew once he left, I'd have no desire to drag my butt to the gym on a Friday night. Wine and chocolate seemed like a much better idea.
But I somehow convinced myself to at least put on workout clothes and walk through the gym door.
I really wasn't in the mood, but I also knew that I would feel worse if I gave a lackluster effort, so I created two short workouts that I knew I could complete, put them together, and came away with a great 40 minute workout completed!
I completed a 20 minute bike interval and a 20 minute circuit. I added in new exercises that I blogged about on Wednesday, and I just hoped no one could see the donkey-like moves through the gym windows!

Challenging and sweaty! Success!

So what did we do on our weekend that's not really a weekend? We began our day by watching the epic Simpsons marathon on FX. They're showing every Simpsons show every created 24/7.  It will take 12 days to show all of the episodes. So The Simpsons acted as our Saturday morning cartoons :)
Then we watched a movie called The Fisher King. IMDB's pitch: "A former radio DJ, suicidally despondent because of a terrible mistake he made, finds redemption in helping a deranged homeless man who was an unwitting victim of that mistake."
It's an odd movie, but it was entertaining all the same. Netflix recently put out a bunch of Robin Williams movies, and I hope to go through all of them :)

Afterwards, we went to The Menil, a small local museum in Houston. We're not very big on art, to be honest. Photography is great. Painting is great. Sometimes sculptures are great. But abstract art? We don't understand it.

Exhibit A:
I mean, what is it? And why is it art? Feel free to enlighten me in the comments below. We just don't "get it."
So after we wandered around the museum long enough to say we saw it, we headed home to make an early dinner together. We made Enchilada Stuffed Peppers with Chile Verde Sauce, a recipe I found on the blog Against All Grain.

Picture Source. I used her picture instead of mine because she made it look so fancy!

This recipe involved fresh, homemade salsa verde. It was the first I've ever bought/used tomatillos for a recipe. We may make it a regular thing :) The salsa topped poblano peppers, which were stuffed with ground beef, shredded carrots, onions, diced sweet potatoes, and a ton of spinach! This recipe is fresh, healthy, and quite yummy. We served it with a side of roasted broccoli, our favorite veggie side!

Question: What is you and your spouse's favorite activity to do together? So far our Houston activities involve going out to eat and cooking at home :)

Good night!
