Houston Fun!

Ryan and I are new to Houston, so there are so many "firsts" we have each week. We're still enthralled by the trails at Memorial Park, even though we run them every week.

There are prettier areas, but I haven't brought my phone with me to take pictures yet!

A couple weeks ago, we went to the Houston Zoo.

He was our favorite :)

It's tough to compete with New Orleans' Audubon Zoo, but the Houston Zoo was really nice as well. One thing it did really well was allow us to get closer to the animals. We were face to face with many, including this happy monkey :)

Last weekend, we went to the Texas Renaissance Festival. Apparently, this is one of the better festivals around the country because it takes place in a permanent location. Each year, more improvements are made and a few features are added.

Love the buildings!

Just outside of the festival. Very pretty area, and there were many old
pine trees in the festival
Neither of us had been to a Renaissance Festival before, so we were pretty excited to go to one that is so well developed! We also got a kick out of being called M' Lord and M' Lady all day!

Many Paleo food options, like grilled pork and giant turkey legs!

Jousting!

Of course, costumes were quite entertaining!

We also went to the Health Museum. It was definitely meant for children, but Ryan and I still had a great time! There was a skeleton contest, and I voted for the "Where the Wild Things Are" skeleton.

Not sure what the purpose was, but we got to scream as loud as we could in
a padded room....

Me completing a brain teaser...it looks like
a child's game, but I promise it was challenging!

Taken from the top of our apartment garage!
And here's a picture of downtown Houston from our apartment. Ryan loves the skyline :)

And a baseball picture for good measure!

There are still a bunch of things on our Houston/Texas Bucket List!
  • Museum of Natural Science
  • Miller Outdoor Theater Performance
  • Houston Children's Museum
  • Art Car Parade
  • Camping in Sam Houston
  • Weekend in Austin
  • Big Bend National Park
  • Eat as much good food as possible!
Question: What are your favorite things to do in a city? Any suggestions for Houston activities?

Good night!
